CHILD CARE NURSE CONSULTANT
Parents place their infants/children in out-of-home child care in order to work or further their education. Some infants/children stay in these facilities up to 10 to 12 hours a day, five days a week. The importance of high quality child care in these facilities cannot be overemphasized.
American Home Finding Association’s Child Care Nurse Consultant works in Wapello and Mahaska counties to improve the health and safety of children in child developmental homes, child care centers, and preschools.
Healthy Child Care Iowa is part of Healthy Child Care America, a program of the American Academy of Pediatrics to improve the health and safety of children while they are enrolled in child care and early education settings. Child Care Nurse Consultants have been specially trained by Iowa Department of Public Health to bring health and safety consultation, technical assistance, and training to child care providers, thereby enhancing the services provided to children in their care.
