How to Adopt

How To Adopt - Ottumwa, Iowa

Since more couples are applying to adopt than we can possibly work with, we are placing couples on a numerical registry.  We are requesting that couples complete an adoption packet of forms (see links below) which includes a descriptive autobiography covering three general areas: your individual/ family life, your married life, and your interest in adopting a child.  A registration fee of $100.00 is also required.

In order to be eligible for our adoption program, several  factors will be considered.  For infant adoption, the age limit of both husband and wife is up to and including  40 years of age.  Infants from one to 24 months of age are placed with childless families.  Children 25 months and older can be placed with any family.

After we review the information you send to us, and if you are found to be eligible for our adoption program, you will be notified that your name has been placed on the registry.  If you are ineligible, you will be notified and your check will be returned to you.

When additional couples are needed for adoptive studies, names will be taken in numerical order from the registry.  A letter will be sent inviting you to an orientation meeting at the agency.  The meeting will give you an opportunity to learn more about the agency and whether or not you want to continue working with us.

American Home Finding Association attempts to maintain a constant supply of approved couples.
